Wenk Associates is kicking off 2020 on a positive note announcing the following staff accomplishments and promotions:

Tyler Kiggins, Senior Associate, was selected to take part in the ULI Next Colorado program for the 2020 year. The program provides an avenue for mid-career professionals to foster leadership skills, develop professional relationships, and promote shared knowledge through education and networking.

J.C. Culwell, Senior Associate, successfully completed the requirements to be an accredited Green Roof Professional (GRP) with Green Roofs for Healthy Cities.
J.C. has an extensive portfolio of green roof experience in the Denver Metro Area including one of the largest private green roofs in Denver at the FLIGHT building in the River North’s (RiNo) TAXI development.

Kristin Danford was promoted to Senior Associate. Kristin, who worked at Wenk Associates as a landscape designer from 2002-2008, has been back at Wenk Associates since May 2015 in the role of Marketing Director. Kristin brings senior leadership to the firm in marketing and business development, proposal and interview processes including team development and strategy, communications, and branding.

Megan Jones Shiotani was promoted to Associate. Since Megan’s arrival at Wenk Associates in June 2015, she has been involved in some of the firm’s most visible projects including the master plan and construction of the City of Westminster’s new downtown streetscapes, and the design and planning effort that developed a trails plan and detailed design guidelines for nine miles of riverfront through Downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Most recently, Megan has been managing the firm’s Salt Lake City work that includes planning and design for the Post District and Industry Salt Lake City neighborhoods and the Grand Boulevards Visioning Plan. Outside of the firm, Megan is an alumna of the Downtown Denver Leadership Program, served as President of the Jane Silverstein Ries Foundation (JSR) from 2016 to 2020, and is a member of the Downtown Denver Partnership Public Realm Council and American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). In 2019, Megan was published in the UCBerkeley Journal of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning with her photoessay Finding Our Roots in Foreign Soil.

Laurie Fickling, PLA, was promoted to Associate.  Laurie joined Wenk Associates in 2016 after several years working as a landscape architect in New York. Since then, Laurie has been involved in design development and has led construction documentation of some of the firm’s more complex urban design projects such as the City of Westminster’s new downtown Central Square Park, the Mission Ballroom mixed-use district and entertainment venue in the River North (RiNo) neighborhood, and the future River North Promenade project that will transform an existing local street into a mile-long along pedestrian promenade and public park along the South Platte River in Denver.

Kalyn Crosier, PLA, was promoted to Associate. Kalyn joined Wenk Associates in the summer of 2018 after several years of experience working on transit-oriented mixed-use communities, corporate campuses, and multi-family developments for a firm in California. Since then, Kalyn has been involved in a variety of projects and project types from the Clear Creek Master Plan for the City of Arvada and the Parks Master Plan for the Town of Berthoud, both of which included extensive public outreach, to right-of-way, roof terrace, and amenity decks for infill development projects. She has also been leading the construction documentation for multiple projects within the future Baseline mixed-use community development in Broomfield which includes a large linear park with civic plazas, community commons, regional play, promenade streetscape, farm park and adventure course.
