STEAM on the Platte

Adaptive reuse project prioritizes workforce housing, healthy living, and sustainable practices

The redevelopment site for STEAM on the Platte, a mixed-use community, was for many decades a no-man’s land of Denver’s industrial past, despite be being only a few miles from downtown. Wenk Associates worked with the design team to provide a vision for the site that embraces its location along the South Platte River and celebrates its industrial past, and is providing urban design of all site infrastructure. STEAM on the Platte will bring urban ecology to a part of the city that hasn’t seen private-sector investment in the past century. The STEAM project will redevelop 3.3 acres, of which the first phase includes the renovation/conversion of the existing warehouse into office space use, associated adjacent site improvements, utilities, and parking.
